In Daniel chapter 6 there is an awesome story of God’s divine intervention. Daniel was a man who possessed a consistent faith. Daniel is a man who lived this kind of consistent life all the days he lived. As a young man he was separated! As a middle aged man, he was sold out! Even as an older man, he was surrendered!
As a faithful man, Daniel found himself cast into a lion’s den and sentenced to die. Daniel’s problem was that he was faithful to the Lord, and the unbelievers around him hated him for it. If you are going to live for the Lord, some people around you are not going to like you. Those who do not know the Lord will always look for ways to attack those of us who are faithful to Him.
Daniel simply did what he had always done; he remained faithful to the Lord. This is how Daniel faced the challenge before him, and the choices he made: He chose obedience to God over opportunities in the world; He chose faithfulness to God over the favor of the king; He chose devotion to God over the decree of the king; He chose bowing before God to bowing before his enemies; He chose a faithful testimony over fleeting treasures; He chose commitment over compromise; He chose faithfulness over freedom; He chose Love over Life; and He chose character over comfort. Daniel was determined to stand and remain faithful to the Lord regardless of the consequences, knowing that he had no one to please but God.
When a person walks faithfully with the Lord in spite of the problems and temptations that surround them, they make a bold statement about where the focus of their life really is. The believer who possesses a consistent faith does not try to live to please everyone; they just lives to please God. So, let us determine in our hearts that we will do like Daniel and remain faithful to our God!
I affirm that am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.
